The number of Chinese tourists visiting Thailand has taken a hit since the Thai government implemented new visa rules last month. The rules restrict the number of tourist visas that can be issued to Chinese citizens, Bangkok's Tourism Authority announced this week.

The new visa rules are an attempt to better control how Chinese tourists are using Thailand and protect the country's tourism sector.
